Word on the street in Lively is that we are the community church. Trinity Lively is a good community partner who participates in many events held in the town. Our youth and their leaders help set up and take down the tents every week in the summer for the Concert series, Rock the Farm. The Spirit committee and the Mission and Outreach Service Project teams participate in the community Fall Fair. We provide space for Tai Chi classes, and for AA meetings, support the Walden Ukulele club, and also provide space for the Active Start program which is part of the Special Olympics program.
The Northern Brass and North Winds Quintet delight us with rich, high level musical performances. From annual fish fries, a soup and sandwich lunch to turkey dinners, we have a visual presence in the community.
Within the walls of Trinity United, we are family. We are multi generational and once a month have an intergenerational worship. We have a flourishing youth program with Sunday school, Junior Youth Group, Senior Youth group, and Confirmation classes. Participants move smoothly through these groups and end up in leadership roles. Programs such as Trinity Kids Camp (formerly VBS), Kids Music club, Confirmation, Movie Group, Book Studies and more encourage participation from all generations. An annual Women’s Retreat and Men’s Canoe Trip are marked excitedly on calendars. There is something for everyone!
Coffee time after church is a casual sharing time of conversation in community.
Worship is very important to the Community of Faith that is Trinity Lively. It is creative, multi media centred and encourages wide participation. We are a warm, welcoming to all, safe space to come together. We offer a weekly Thursday prayer group and a once a month Encounter Worship service during the September - June season. Healing prayers during Monthly Communion Services are celebrated at God’s Table.
Outside the walls of Trinity United, we reach out to our neighbours with programs that include a weekly Downtown Coffee Ministry, Out of the Cold dinners, Kid’s Music club, the Walden Ministerial group, along with services and games nights at Meadowbrook (our local seniors residence). As well, our Community of Faith holds a Birthday in the Park event every July, for the many who struggle with homelessness. This rich, collective time allows us to celebrate everyone’s birthday in the downtown of Sudbury.
